The teacher of a Circle is not there to feed children formulas but to help them think creatively.
A Circle is not ‘a faster way of delivering the National Curriculum’ and nor is it for children to practise drills and exercises. (These are important but they are not for Circles.)
The aim of a Circle is not primarily to help a child ‘do well in exams / 11 plus / SATs’ but, as a result of the work done in Circles, school work should become easier because the children learn how to solve harder problems than is normal in school.
As children learn to think better they will do better in tests and exams but the focus of a circle is on improving the thinking, not improving exam results.
